Bill Baker (William Presley Baker) was born on February 22, 1911 in Paw Creek, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on May 4, 1940 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1943, his rookie year, he hit .273 with 1 home run and 26 RBI. Baker played for the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 7 year career.
