Bill Austin (William Lee Austin) was born on October 18, 1928 in San Pedro, California. After going to high school at Woodburn (OR), Austin attended Oregon State University. Austin made his professional debut in the NFL in 1949 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for his entire 7 year career.
Most people believe that 1949 was Bill Austin's best year, as he recovered 3 opponents fumbles.
