Bill Atwood (William Franklin Atwood) was born on September 25, 1911 in Rome, Georgia. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1936 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1936, his rookie year, he hit .302 with 2 home runs and 29 RBI. Atwood played for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire 5 year career.
