Bill Akers (William G. Akers) was born on December 25, 1904 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on September 8, 1929 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1930, his rookie year, he hit .279 with 9 home runs and 40 RBI. Akers played for the Detroit Tigers and Boston Braves over the course of his 4 year career.
Most people believe that Bill Akers's best season was 1930, when he hit for a .279 average.
