Biggest Sore Losers In Sports.

Who are the biggest sore losers in sports? Boston? Cleveland? Philadelphia? New York? Wrong Wrong Wrong amd Wrong. We all are. That's right I've come to the realization that the United States are the biggest sore losers in sports. We're the richest and most powerful nation in the free world but we don't take defeat lightly. Once we come to the realization that we are not good in that sport we abandon it.
Look at basketball. We used to love basketball. Back when basketball shorts gave players yeast infections, America couldn't get enough. The Dream team used to dominate the world and then what happened. We started losing. We started getting bronze and silver medals overseas, Dirk Nowitzki, Yao Ming and Steve Nash started to emerge as the stars of the league. Teams like the San Antonio Spurs look more like the United Nations than a basketball team, and we have turned our back to it. We watch the highlights on Sportscenter but thats about it. Why because we are no longer the best in it.
Look at boxing. What happened to Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Mike Tyson now the heavyweight champions are all a bunch of 7 ft Russians whose names I can't even pronounce. A championship fight on pay-per-view was as big as a Game 2 of the World Series (because game 2 is the most unimportant game) but now we don't even pay attention to it. Why, because we are no longer on top. We have no real heavyweight contenders.
Look at soccer. We never gave soccer the time of day. We watch the World Cup up until we lose in the first or second round, and some people root for their heritage country, but for the most part we stop caring. Soccer fans we dont watch the MLS, we watch AC Milan and Liverpool. The New England Revolution lost in the championship game last year, I just found this out yesterday.
The Tour De France. Lance Armstrong won 7 straight, Floyd Landis won another, the US kicked ass in cycling and then our other American pastime, steroids came about. I don't even know who represented the US this year. Why? Because if we don't dominate, we don't care.
Baseball and Football are our sports. We get foreign players in baseball but you saw what happened when we lost the World Baseball Classic we tuned out. I didn't know Daisuke Matsuzaka back then but we didn't abandon baseball as easily though. We simply criticized the WBC itself. Football, we don't have many international players in the NFL. You don't hear Mel Kiper Jr. talking about a European prospect. You saw what happened to NFL Europa. We are sending games overseas but notice it's US vs US. We aren't playing an English, Canadian or Mexican football team. Because if we lose we'll stop watching sports. We always will have college sports because they dont recruit high schoolers from Europe. The USA are the biggest sore losers in sports, followed by New Yorkers and LaDainian Tomlinson. So next time you bypass a boxing match or basketball game on TV remember why -- it's irrelevant.
