Okay, so not only did it become official yesterday, but it also came out of the closet as Rich Rodriguez became the new head man at Michigan that the Maize and Blue have a pipeline to Morgantown for coaches! Damn, who would of thought that? A pipeline for brew maybe, but coaches? An university such as Michigan turning to the "Coach Burners" not only to resurrect their basketball program in John Beilein, but wining and dining one of West Virginia’s very own so that he would burn them just like any ole coach to try to take UM football into the 21 st century, (which, I don’t know if anybody has noticed, but we’ve been in it for a few years now)…YOWZA!
So as we all know, this isn’t about the money….Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiigiggggggghhhhhhhtttttt! And as soon as Bob Huggins can put down the beer, he’ll be off to Michigan too after Beilein’s well runs dry in Ann Arbor. Although, isn’t Huggy Bear one of West Virginia’s own? Yeah, my point exactly! After Double R had a flirtaous relationship with Alabama a year ago to in essence just so he could get more funds for his pockets, the West Virginia God, (until they lost to Pitt a few weeks back) decides to fly the coop too! Gosh, first the whole Major Harris thingy, then losing the "Backyard Brawl" and a National Championship shot to go with it, compliments of the "Major Harris Curse" and now this! And Red Sox fans think they have it bad!
Funny thing is, this morning I opened my email box and I have some fan mail regarding the new hire in Ann Arbor. (Yes, I do get fan mail for your information! Not a lot, but some…So feel free). One emailer writes:
"I know how to stop the spread...shrink the box to no wider than the offensive tackle's inside shoulders. Then load it with 8 pass rushing athletes. Rodriguez and Saban are cut out of the same mold....They are not trust worthy and both are damn liars. Too bad Michigan couldn't get a coach that other Big Ten teams and fans could respect.
I'm willing to give him a chance, too, even though I hate liars. Remember, if a man's word is no good the man is no damn good."
A ZING seems appropriate here…What, is this guy a Bucky Badger fan? I’m just willing to guess that he thinks Ann Arbor’s a whore. On second thought, probably graduated from Michigan State and turned into a Wisconsin Badger Backer after moving to Madison…Like I said, just a guess.
Anyway, good defensive strategy of trying to stop the spread offensive…Really, I dig it! Too bad Ohio State didn’t get this email I got last year before their game with Florida! So just load up the box, that’s all a team has to do? So why isn’t this "defense" catching on? All NFL teams have to do is tackle Devin Hester too! Yeah, that works! No wider than the inside shoulder huh, I guess this emailer doesn’t know too much about the spread…You see emailer, that’s the guy the quarterback reads in this whole spread offense system! And last time I checked eight in the box usually means man for man coverage! Ever see how Appy. State broke one off in The Big House? Apparently not! How about any of the Illinois games? Yeah, that "spread" is so easy to stop…Again, just ask the Buckeyes!
Although, I’ll agree with the notion that Rodriguez, Saban, and let’s not forget Petrino "are not trust worthy and both are damn liars". Then again, what coach is nowadays? Hell, the only time I believed Les Miles wasn’t heading to Michigan was yesterday even though he had to hold more than a couple "Mike Piazza, I’m Not Gay Press Conferences"! "If a man's word is no good the man is no damn good"…While this may be, truth is, words don’t win games! X’s and O’s win games! Coach Rod has proven that both at Tulane and at Couch Burner University…And the offense that he brings to the Double A and will no doubt along with the Fighting Zookers look to help out a conference that has been looked at as a pushover nationally…Either that or just control that whole conference like every school is Illinois and Michigan’s little bitch!
In a different perspective of the Double R hirer, emailer B writes…
"I get the sneaking suspicion that some things are going to change on the turf at the Big House here in the next couple of years. I am skeptical for now, but I am willing to give Rodriguez a shot. Let's see if he can recruit at a school that reaches the whole country, not just a region. The #1 recruit in the country (QB from PA that has been compared to Vince Young) said he has now put Michigan back on the list. Michigan’s offense is getting ready to make a drastic change. I don't think there is any question that UM currently has the athletes to run the spread, with the exception of quarterback. The man child freshman has a great arm, but he looks like a new born horse trying to stand for the first time when he takes off running.
I tell you what, if I were an enterprising young football coach, I would spend my days and nights developing a defense to the spread offense. Nobody can stop it. They just have to hope their own spread offense is better than the other teams. It is like the NFL 20 years ago when the West Coast offense started to spread like wild fire. We shall see."
Boy, you’re quick…"Sneaking suspicion some things are going to change," whatever would give you that idea? Why on earth would you be "skeptical"? Um, yeah, before losing to Ohio State as they always do…Let’s see, Appy State and Oregon, both spread offensives, you saw what they did to GO BLUE…Probably made you want to GO PUKE! The sole reason behind why the spread offense is spreading all over the country faster than a California wildfire is for the simple fact that if a team gets the right players running that system, it can’t be stop! It gives an offense so many different options. For that’s why Zooker is having success at Illinios, has taken a couple years, but look! In a conference that for some reason runs the same bland brand of football, well there’s no reason to think that type of offense can’t work in the "Big House" and dominant the Big Ten! It’s not like Michigan’s a doormat of the conference to begin with. Although, there’s a reason why the top recruit in the country has put the University of Michigan back on his Christmas list, he sees the fun and excitement of Rodriguez’s offensive instead of that four yards a pop bull shit! Where spicing the offense up means to call a pansy ass shovel pass! A word to the wise however on that top recruit..Just watch out though, Jimmy Clausen was the top recruit last year!
Indeed, the sign of the times, boy they’re indeed changing in The Big Ten Conference…Who knows, pretty soon they may begin to get a little more respect nationally instead of being dubbed a "pushover". More importantly a little bit more enjoyable to watch! By more enjoyable I mean on this level…(Disregard the Techno-Rave on tunes, the headache you’ll get from it, well worth the 4:00 minutes).
However, this kind of excitement is going to have to wait until another SEC school hands the Buckeyes their lunch! Oh well, until then Hot Blonde will have to do!
