Very interesting. Risky gamble for the Baby Bulls... Wallace is starting to get older and didn't always show his patented energy in the playoffs this year. Offensively, it's a 4 on 5 when he's in the game. I bet Detroit wishes they had Darko right about now.

And the hopes of Philadelphia 76ers fans are dashed yet once again.

How so? I'm a Sixers fan, but no way they could have been able to get any type of deal done with the contracts they have on the books.

The Bulls were the only team with "upside" AND cap space to get the deal done - The Bobcats and Hawks had cap space, but come on...sorry, Christof the Sixers didn't have the cap space to do a deal - remember you have to be under the cap to offer free agents a contract, with the 2 exceptions (mid-level around $5 mil and the every other year exception around $2-3 mil, which is why the Knicks didn't make a run at an overpriced Wallace -I'm sure they'll trade for him in 3 years)- Detroit actually catches a break here! They won't be stuck with Ben's contract (which is gonna be a 900 lb gorilla for 4 years as he gets old) - BUT The Bulls are young and needed a 'tough guy' and the can handle the contract, but Big Ben is going down hill quick (He is overrated at this point) This deal has been a known quantitiy since the All-Star break... it shouldn't surprise anyone

very good points, darko may not have panned out as they hoped, but he still had time to develop. Also, Tyson chandler could be good trading bait as well. What about Jamal Crawford? He had a promising career ahead of him in Chicago before he went to the Knicks. keep the comments coming!

Crawford did not have a promising career ahead of him in Chicago, he was a headcase and flipped when the bulls drafted jay williams and kirk hinrich after he was drafted. Crawford wants to start and Chicago is a team that is far from lacking in guards. I wouldn't mind seeing chicago go after another big, but im pretty happy with the team as it stands now

I'm glad the extra million a year is the GAPING difference between the offer he took and what the Pistons offered...

yeah really, but it is interesting, however, about all these huge contracts. Is Peja really worth all that money he's going to get from New Orleans? And how are Chris Bosh and 'Mello both deserving of the same contract that Lebron is offered, all the while the three of them are making more than Dwyane Wade!!

Love this move for the Bulls. Wallace solidifies their already solid defense at center and gives them something other than soft sorry Tyson in the middle. With Malik Allen and Mike Sweetney Chandler is expendable now. They already have scorers. Their a franchise player away from being perennial title contenders.

Yeah, and even without a "franchise player" they should be big contenders next year and beyond... I really like what they're doing in Chicago.

Speaking of Chandler, there is a trade in the works for him to go to the Hornets for P.J. Brown

I usually do not have any problems with players that focus on defense, but Ben is such an offensive liability at times. Fortunately, the Bulls got Ben Gordon who does nothing but shoot.

There have been some really crazy deals this week. The Hornets and Bulls look so good on paper now. As for Ben, the Pistons made it pretty clear that Prince was a bigger issue to deal with than Ben. Choosing G/F over a center? Sound Familiar? Like Shaq, look for Ben to make his presence known with the Bulls. And if it doesnt work out, at least he's got 12 extra million

I'd take Tayshaun over Wallace at this point. I don't think it's comparable to the Kobe/Shaq situation because Shaq was a dominant offensive and defensive force, whereas Wallace only contributes defensively. Prince is still a young guy with the all-around game.

By getting wallace, the bulls traded a player who plays great defense and stays on the floor for Chandler who cant stay on the floor. Their mutual lack of offense is a wash. Bulls ahead of the game simply by dumping Chandler and his big contract.
