Big Ben Injured in Motorcycle Accident

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was injured in a motorcycle accident outside of Steelers training camp at 11:25 this morning. Big Ben was taken to a local hospital. Roethlisberger is in serious but stable condition.

Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet. A veteran police officer has told WTAE-TV that the accident was "pretty bad." Another witness told WTAE that Roethlisberger "T-boned" a vehicle, struck the windshield with his head, rolled onto the ground and struck his head on the pavement. His eyes were open but he was very confused and disoriented. He said that he was "okay" and tried to get up.

Per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, which broke the story of the accident minutes after it happened, Roethlisberger has fractured his left sinus cavity bone, sustained a nine-inch gash to the back of his head, suffered injuries to both knees and a broken jaw, and he has lost either "most" or "several" of his teeth.

This is really sad, but I wonder how many accidents like this people have to see before they'll wear a freaking helmet. Austin, TX, just had a huge biker rally. Last year was a record for fatality accidents, and this year they had two more. I saw literally dozens of bikers not wearing helmets. I don't get it. Is it not macho to wear a helmet? Maybe it's because I'm not a biker, but it seems like it's more macho than being dead.

Ben lost a lot of teeth, broke is jaw bone and a few other bones in his face. He also has an 8" gash from the front of his face to the back of his head. They said it's not life-nor career-threatning. We will officially have the roughest looking qb in football! Get well soon Ben, and make sure you eat a lot of soup since you no longer have teeth, but NOT CHUNKY! That's what put you where you are lol!
