Bid McPhee (John Alexander McPhee) was born on November 1, 1859 in Massena, New York. He made his Major League debut on May 2, 1882 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1882, his rookie year, he hit .228 with 1 home run and 31 RBI. McPhee played for the Cincinnati Reds for his entire 18 year career.

Most people believe that Bid McPhee's best season was 1887, when he stole 95 bases, hit for a .289 average and knocked in 87 runs.
