Is the SEC the Best Conference?

At this point I would have to say "yes" they are but the PAC-10 is not too far behind.  Both conferences have some very big wins (LSU over VT, USC over Nebraska, Kentucky over Lousiville, and Oregon over Michigan, Cal over Tenn.) and the only advantage I can give to the PAC-10 is that they did some of those on the road.  It is an interesting note that no SEC team has won anything, out of conference, worth mentioning away from home...the biggest road win they have is Miss. St. beating Tulane.  But, the SEC is still pretty impressive top to bottom.  I would love to see them do an SEC/PAC-10 football challenge like the ACC/Big 10 do in baskteball.  That would make for some interesting matchups:
    ~LSU @ USC
    ~Cal @ Florida
    ~South Carolina @ Oregon
    ~Alabama @ Arizona St.
    ~Oregon St. @ Georgia
    ~Kentucky @ UCLA

Best 5 Teamer - SEC Style

Right now I'm 5-5 for the year (didn't pick week 1).  So hopefully I can get on the plus side after this week.

1.  Game of the Week (so says College Gameday) - Georgia @ Alabama (-3 1/2) What is interesting about this game is Alabama's D.  They let Arkansas run for 53-301-5.7...not good at all.  They came out quick and fast last week, running off of emotion, but I don't think they can do that again against Georgia.  I think Knowshon Moreno is going to be big tomorrow and has a great day.  If Stafford can control the game and the rushing attack can keep the 'Bama front line on their heels they win...Georgia + 3 1/2
2. South Carolina @ LSU (-18 1/2) For the last two weeks I have taken who LSU is playing and the points.  I have been wrong both times.  The Defense is so nasty that it isn't even funny and this week you have Blake Mitchell coming in after giving up 3 picks to South Carolina St. last game.  An offense is going to have to play perfect against this D, with no turnovers.  I don't see that happening this week...LSU - 18 1/2
3.  Kentucky @ Arkansas (-7) Kentucky beat Lousiville last week at home, which is really impressive, but that may have been their "superbowl" in 2007.  That is a huge rivalry game and the emotion is flowing.  I think they come out flat and slow against Arkansas off of that big win.  It also will not help that McFaddan and Felix Jones will rush the ball 40 times total...Arkansas -7
4.  New Mexico St. @ Auburn (-16 1/2) I have not seen New Mexico St. play yet but when you look at their stats, the offense is not playing around.  Chase Holbrook has thrown for 11 TD's and over 1000 yards in 3 games.  The only problem I see is the 6 INTs he has also thrown.  The two teams that beat Auburn feasted on their turnovers and controlled the ball themselves.  I don't see New Mexico St. doing that in an offense that averages around 50 passes a game.... Auburn -16 1/2
5. Florida (-23 1/2) @ Ole' Miss Revenge game from when they lost to Eli Manning in 2003.  Florida is so hot right now it isn't even funny...Florida - 23 1/2
