Bernie Erickson (John Bernard Erickson) was born on October 16, 1944 in Clifton, Texas. After going to high school at Clifton (TX), Erickson attended Abilene Christian University and the University of Tennessee. Erickson made his professional debut in the AFL in 1967 with the San Diego Chargers. He played for the San Diego Chargers for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1967 was Bernie Erickson's best year.
