Ben Chapman (William Benjamin Chapman) was born on December 25, 1908 in Nashville, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1930 for the New York Yankees. In 1930, his rookie year, he hit .316 with 10 home runs and 81 RBI. Chapman played for the New York Yankees, Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 15 year career.

Most people believe that Ben Chapman's best season was 1931, when he slugged 17 home runs, stole 61 bases, hit for a .315 average and knocked in 122 runs.
