Born on April 13, 1902 in Milan, Tennessee, Ben Cantwell (Benjamin Caldwell Cantwell) played for the New York Giants, Boston Braves and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 11 year career. Cantwell broke into the bigs on August 19, 1927 with the New York Giants, and put up a 4.98 ERA in 108.1 innings pitched in 1928, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ben Cantwell's best season was 1933, when he posted a 2.62 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 57 batters.
