Belle Isle, located in Detroit, Michigan, began hosting street courses races for CART in 1992. CART decided not to renew the race after the 2001 running. In 2007, the race is set to return as part of the Indy Racing League. It has been announced that a race will be held on the island during the 2007 ALMS season.
