Josh Beckett and the Red Sox agreed to a one-year contract for $4,325,000, avoiding arbitration. The Red Sox acquired Beckett in a seven-player trade on Thanksgiving of 2005. Beckett made $2,425,000 last season when he went 15-8 with a 3.38 ERA for the Florida Marlins. Beckett filed for arbitration and asked the Red Sox for $4.9 million, while the team offered $3.75 million. Beckett will be a free agent after the 2007 season.
