Beauty McGowan (Frank Bernard McGowan) was born on November 8, 1901 in Branford, Connecticut. He made his Major League debut on April 12, 1922 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1922, his rookie year, he hit .230 with 1 home run and 20 RBI. McGowan played for the Philadelphia Athletics, St. Louis Browns and Boston Braves over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Beauty McGowan's best season was 1929, when he knocked in 51 runs.
