The Chicago Bears signed QB Brian Griese to an undisclosed five-year contract. Griese is coming off a torn ACL, and will enter training camp as Rex Grossman's backup and insurance policy.

I don't get this deal... Orton was a perfect back-up last season! he kept the Bears into the playoff race and did enough to pick up a couple of wins. What more do you want from a rookie pivot?

This deal makes all the sens in the world. Yes Oton did all that, but he benifited mostly from a sound running game, a strong defense, and an easy schedule. Plus Grossman is a huge injury risk, if he goes down again, which he most likely will, the Bears then can look to both Orton and Griese instead of Orton and Blake (yikes). They didn't overpay for a top veteran and grabbed a decent insurance plan.
