Baseball Strategy:Tagging Up to Third

<<Back to Baseball Strategy Table of Contents

[edit] Rules and Exceptions

Rule 1: Never, never, never, make the 1st or 3rd out at 3rd base. There are NO exceptions!

Rule 2: Only tag if you know the runner can get to 3rd safely, either way 1 hit will score him from 2nd or 3rd. The only advantage of getting to 3rd with 2 outs is if there is a passed ball, is it worth getting thrown out? no....runner has to be 100% sure of it, if the runner is not sure then go 1/3 of the way to 3rd, this way if he drops it then you may be able to score

Exceptions:
