Barry McCormick (William J. McCormick) was born on December 25, 1874 in Maysville, Kentucky. He made his Major League debut on September 25, 1895 for the Louisville Colonels. In 1896, his rookie year, he hit .220 with 1 home run and 23 RBI. McCormick played for the Louisville Colonels, Chicago Colts, Chicago Orphans, St. Louis Browns and Washington Senators over the course of his 10 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Barry McCormick's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1898, when he knocked in 78 runs. However, others believe that it was 1897, when he stole 44 bases and knocked in 55 runs.
