Barry Bonds is NOT being singled out.

As anybody that follows sports knows, Barry Bonds is, as of this writing, tied with Hank Aaron as the All-Time Home Run King.
He got, in my opinion, a rather surprising response from Padres fans --a response that was filled with more cheering than booing. It was surprising, because those are the same fans that tossed a syringe at him last year. But, most people want to be apart of history, so their change of heart should not really be that much of surprise.
Another thing that has surprised me in all this how often I hear, "Bonds is being singled out for the steroid era." Really? What is the last thing you heard about Rafael Palmeiro? He went from being applauded for such milestones as 3,000+ hits and 500+ home runs, to being banished out of baseball's consciousness.
The same thing could be said for Mark McGwire. Is he not being punished for being apart of the steroid era? St. Louis baseball fans loved the guy, but there some people were worried about him getting booed when he returned to St. Louis after his debacle of a congressional testimony. St. Louis fans are some of the best fans in sports, and people thought they might boo one of their heroes.
Barry Bonds is not being singled out. Every player from this era is paying the price for what happened in the steroid era. And even if he is being singled out, then that is fine by me. He is about to break one of the greatest records in all of sports. That alone calls for being singled out. I don't care if the pitcher that gave up 755, Clay Hensley, was suspended for using steroids. Clay Hensley isn't surpassing Hank Aaron. The breaking of such a monumental record is going to bring the spotlight, and whatever comes with that spotlight is completely fair.
