Barrett Receives 10 Game Suspension

10 games is harsh. I expected 5.

10 games isn't harsh. The player that instigates a brawl by being the first to throw a punch usually gets 10 games. What did surprise me, though, was how easy Pierzynski got off. Considering his involvement, I'm stunned that he only got a fine.

Although I don't have a problem with Barret hitting Pierzynski (piezynski is a well-known asshole) I think this suspension is fair. You can't go around punching people.

Did Pierzynski ever do anything after Barrett punched him? In all the replays I saw, Pierzynski never retaliated.

He deserves at least 20. He punched him in the face totally clean. He grabbed him, and punched him with no provocation. It was totally a cheap shot. Its not like they were exchanging words and then he just happened to get the first punch in. Pierzynski was walking away.

I definitely have to agree with ASwaff here. Ten games is just about right. Pean, why in the world did you sign him? Did you totally forget about this whole fight thing, or were you tempting fate? :)

I completely disagree with Aswaff and Xinoph (Xinoph, what does that username derive from?). Barett hadn't yet received the ball and Pierzynski unnecessarily bowled him over. While Barrett's reaction deserves a suspension, I would think I'd react the same way. A 10 game suspension is fair.

Uh, Patrick, I think we were both saying a ten game suspension was fair for Barrett, so I think you actually agree with us. And my username? It's a mystery.

THink of this...you are running to home to score a run and you are expecting the cater to have the ball if he is in a possition like Barrett. As fast as things were going its hard to tell if the catcher has the ball or is about to catch it. Is he supposed to walk up to the plate and kiss it gently, I think not...this is a big league rivalry and Barret held himself on the plate as he was making the play ball in hand.

Barrett needs a good week off to blow the smoke out of his head...he's good, and if he keeps this up he's not going to help turn the ball team around. And it seemed like with every explaination he made himself sound more guilty. AJ I believe doesnt deserve a suspension, he played the run like Barrett had the ball, as for the slap on the plate...who hasn't done somthing like that after scoring a run.
