Barney Wentz (Byron W. Wentz) was born on April 21, 1901 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Shenandoah (PA), Wentz attended Pennsylvania State University. Wentz made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Pottsville Maroons. He played for the Pottsville Maroons for his entire 4 year career.
