Barney Mathews (Frank E. Mathews) was born on July 1, 1903 in St. Louis, Missouri. Mathews attended Northwestern University. Mathews made his professional debut in the NFL in 1926 with the Racine Tornadoes. He played for the Racine Tornadoes for his entire 1 year career.
