Barney Lepper (Howard Emmett Lepper) was born on February 19, 1898 in Buffalo, New York. After going to high school at Lafayette (Buffalo, NY), Lepper attended none. Lepper made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Buffalo All-Americans. He played for the Buffalo All-Americans for his entire 1 year career.
