Erik Bedard had an disasterous 2nd inning, giving up 5 runs. Bedard only lasted 2 innings and pitched to 3 batters in the third. In his 2 plus innings, Bedard faced 17 batters and threw a total of 73 pitchs, 45 for strikes.

Tim Wakefield went 6 innings, gave up seven hits, walked 2 and struck out three. Manny Ramirez hit his fifth homerun of the season in the fourth inning off Julio Mannon. Chris Gomez hit his first homer of the year off Wakefield in the top of the fourth.

One of the few positive things for the Orioles tonight was the performance of Mannon and Chris Birkins. Called up last week to replace Jim Brower, then two combined for 4 innings giving up one earned run, striking out six and giving up 2 hits.

The banged up Orioles have lost their fourth straight, while the Red Sox have won three in a row.

Another great game by Wakefield. I'm just glad the Sox were finally able to score him some runs and get him a win. The offense has really been coming alive lately...39 runs in the last 6 games

Boston scored more runs for Wake last night than in his first five outings combined. The bottom of the order contributed a lot, including Alex Gonzalez, which was good to see

He was and then this game happens. I think he'll have a really good year regardless.
