Ballpark Food Favorites

We've come a long way from peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Well, ok some people still eat peanuts, but you get my point.

Going to the ballpark is like going to a (majorly overpriced) buffet. There's choices of cuisine from all over the globe and all kinds of specialty snacks.

While a hot dog with brown mustard is still a must, you could try something new virtually every time you go out to the ballpark.

The lyrics of "Take Me Out the Ballgame" could be changed to a million different things.

"Buy me some eggrolls and chicken fried rice"

"Buy me some sushi and doughnut holes"

"Buy me some cajun fries and deli rolls."

Each stadium has their own mix of foods.

A new favorite at Jacob's Field is Johnny Applestix. These are apples cut into french fry shaped snacks that are fried and topped with cinnamon and sugar. You can then get them with caramel, ice cream and a few other toppings. They're fantastic. I'd recommend that anyone who goes to a Tribe game give them a try.

What do you recommend visitors get at your team's park?

In Philly: Saving your money and going to Chickie & Pete's after the game, or Geno's, or Tony Luke's on Oregon Ave.

Pat's really don't make good steaks. I should have included Jim's on South Street though on the list.

You can't come to a Brewers game without getting a brat, although you also can't come to the game without frying up a few in the parking lot either, so you may not have room (especially with the additional beer in the stomach) for that stadium brat, although I do highly recommend them at Miller Park.

Dont come here to DC and watch the Nationals. RFK Stadium has the worse food in the country. We have popcorn, a shortage of hot dogs, warm soda because the extension cords dont reach the vending areas, and have failed most every health code violation... but things are looking up they added a bbq joint....

Leave it to people in Cleveland to figure out how to make apples totally unhealthy.

Hey, they just said "An apple a day" They didn't give specifics about how you had to eat it.

Primanti brothers sandwich in Steeltown. Its the only way Pittsburgh has ever made it onto the food channel. French fries, saurkraut, cole slaw, everything in the meal is piled on your sandwich. With an Iron City Beer to wash it all down of course.

Also, in New York, drop by Virgil's BBQ, in Time's Square. Great food, especially after a baseball game.

Nothing beats the brats and dawgs in Cellular field. But for the beast ball game snack in Chicago...You got to stop by a Maxwell Street Bus Stop (not actually a bus stop) to get Grilld Powish wit gwilled onions and fry-2 for $5.25

Here's a vote for the Garlic Fries at Safeco Field. Tasty taters with extra helpings of garlic that would make the strongest vampire run screaming. With a Pyramid Hefe you're set. While I agree with the above commenters about heading for a cheesesteak postgame, the setup at the park itself with stands of Geno's and Tony Luke's within the viewing area. Makes the lines easier to navigate.
