Bad Mascot: Benny the Bull Goes to the Slaughterhouse, er, Slammer

Oh the humanity! Cue the Bad Boys music.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer this morning, the Chicago Bulls mascot, Benny the Bull, was arrested this past Sunday. Benny supposedly rode dirty on a mini-motorcycle through the Tate of Chicago Festival. He then charged a Sheriff's deputy, cocking him in the face with one of his paws. He also broke the deputy's watch.

What has sports come to when even the mascots are being busted? This 2006 summer will be rememeber more for police action than action on the field.

I think America needs it's four major sports running all-year round. It'll give them something to do that keeps them out of trouble.

These days, the 4 major sports are year round. THis is especialy true for football, where off-season work outs begin in march, Mini-Camps in April-June, Training camp during the summer, and then the season. As you can see, that is not stopping the violence.

Same in basketball with summer leagues and plenty of team offseason workouts. Maybe they need to figure out a way to keep the mascots occupied as well.
