BREAKING NEWS: Bonds Pleads Not Guilty

As expected, All-time home run leader Barry Bonds pleaded not guilty to perjury and obstruction of justice during his arraignment this morning, as reported by the Associated Press. Bail was set at $500,000. Prosecutors also asked the court to restrict Bonds' travel to the United States. If convicted, Bonds could face up to two years in a federal prison. Prosecutors claim to have a blood test from November 2000 that shows a "Barry B" testing positive for two types of steroids. This makes us wonder why we didn't hear about that sooner, considering Palmeiro tested positive and we found out shortly after. With that said, Bonds has never been identified by Major League Baseball for testing positive for steroids. Defense attorneys plan to attack the credibilty and character of important witnesses in the case. Bond's personal trainer Greg Anderson is expected to be pressured by federal prosecuters to testify against Bonds. A refusal by Anderson could mean more time behind bars. These words keep resonating in my mind: "No, this record is not tainted. Whatsoever."
