BREAKING NEWS: Bills TE Kevin Everett

ESPN.com is reporting that Kevin Everett has been transferred to a rehab facility in Houston, near his hometown, to rehabilitate his life-threatening c-spine injury. There was specualtion earlier as to where he was headed, but now it has been made official.
Doctors remain optimistic that he will begin to walk again sooner rather than later. What GREAT news coming into an exciting weekend in pro football.
Going home from the hospital is a HUGE step for Everett. As a medical student, I have learned that this is truely the breaking point for most people with cervical spine injuries. We always say "C's 3, 4 and 5 keep the phrenic nerve alive." The phrenic nerve is the nerve that dictates respiratory muscle function via the diaphragm and supports liver function, so this is a HUGE step for Everett. However, he is not out of the dark yet, so please keep him and his family in your prayers.
