With a knee injury that has been bothering him since last April, PG Gilbert Arenas underwent an MRI today to discover that he had a torn meniscus. He re-injured his knee in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Washington Post declared that "Agent 0" will be out for at least three months. Arenas had surgery on the knee today.
The Post also said that he won't be able to participate in any basketball activity for at least three weeks. This is Arenas' second surgery in eight months. Last year he had surgery on the same knee with torn cartilige.
Arenas began the season by playing as though nothing was wrong, averaging about 40 minutes per game. But after Washington's third game, he said his knee felt stiff. In just eight games this season, Arenas is the teams leading scorer with 22.4 points a game but only shot 39% from the floor. The Washington Wizards sit at a 5-5 record and have won the last two games without Arenas.
After Arenas was injured last year, the Wizards struggled to finish the season but they still earned themselves a playoff spot. They finished at 41-41 and they were swept in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers. So now with Arenas out for three months, how will the Wizards perform without him?
