Isn't Papelbon considered a rookie this year, because he went less than 50 innings last year?

Yes, I forgot about Papelbon and changed him shortly after posting the article.

Baez hasn't come into as many high-pressure situations as a lot of other relievers. He has done a very good job though, and is on my fantasy team. Baez did blow a save by letting up 3 runs; however, they were charged as unearned.

I had Gomes rated as my 2nd best DH behind Thome and about top 15 in the AL. Mench has too low an OBP for my likings but I had him in the top 30 in the AL. If Mench keeps hitting like he has been the last week, then I expect he could make a showing on this list in the near future.

Ironically, Baez looked terrible today and blew a save...didn't see that coming.

I would think there could be a strong arguement for Gomes over Rios or Swisher at one of the OF spots though.

Did you see that Jeff Brantley said he would choose Papelbon if he had the #1 pick in a draft of all major leaguers. Kruk and Phillips both were a lot smarter and chose Pujols. That is the first time I have used "Kruk" and "smart" in the same sentence.

Chachi, I agree. If I were to do this over again and count Gomes as an OF, then he would have ranked over both Swisher and Rios.

What about Prince Fielder as NL Rookie of the Year? I know he's the popular choice but so is Pujols for MVP. He's batting .344/.406/.552 with 5 HR, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored. Not bad for a guy who started the year 0-11 with nine strikeouts.

Prince Fielder has been a better hitter than Hanley Ramirez, but Ramirez is a SS so his offensive production is more valuable. Also, Ramirez has added seven SBs. It is about a dead tie at the moment between those two, but I have a feeling Fielder will end up on top when it is all said and done.
