Avs Re-sign Defenseman Sauer

The Colorado Avalanche have reportadly re-signed defenseman Kurt Sauer to a one-year deal worth $685,000.
Sauer, who is taking a paycut from his salary of $718,200 last year, scored a goal and added 4 assists in 28 regular season, and 9 playoff games for the Avalanche last season.
The 25-year-old Minnesota native was originally drafted by the Avalanche in 2000, but spent the majority of his career playing for the Anaheim Ducks before being re-acquired at the end of the 2003-04 season.
The deal leaves John-Michael Liles and Jeff Finger as the only two defensemen left unsigned. Also unsigned are forwards Jim Dowd, Marek Svatos, Brett McLean, and Cody McCormick, and backup goaltender Peter Budaj.
