Ave Kaplan (Avold R. Kaplan) was born on November 16, 1899 in Owatonna, Minnesota. After going to high school at Owatonna (MN), Kaplan attended Hamline University. Kaplan made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Minneapolis Marines. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Minneapolis Marines the entire time. Kaplan also played in the AFLG for 1 year, playing for the Rock Island Independents the entire time.
