Avatus Stone

Avatus Stone (Avatus Harry Stone) was born on April 21, 1931 in Washington, District Of Columbia. Avatus Stone started his athletic career at Browne Jr. High School in Northeast Washington. He lettered in baseball, football, basketball. He then went on to Armstrong High School in 1946 and added tennis to his extensive athletic resumee. After going to high school at Armstrong (Washington, DC), Stone attended Syracuse University from 1949-1953 where he became an All-American at Defensive Back. Stone began his professional career with the Chicago Cardinals. He then jumped from the NFL to the Canadian Football Leage. He started his professional football career with the Ottowa Rough Riders. He was named the Most Valuable Player at Halfback. He finisehd his career in Canada playing 7 games with the Montreal Allouettes and then coming back to the NFL to play one game for the Baltimore Colts as a third string quarterback and a punter.
