Aubrey Huff Traded to Houston

8
Vote

Houston Astros get Aubrey Huff.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays get two minor leaguers -- right-hand pitcher Mitch Talbot and infielder Ben Zobrist.

Some money seems to have changed hands, too, as the Astros are paying about half of Huff's 2007 salary.

It was rumored that the Astros were after Crawford, and instead they got Huff. Great move.

The Mets are so unlucky. They havent played the Cubs or Astros yet. Now they play the Cubs with Lee back and the Astros with Clemens back and now Huff.

The Cubs are horrible with or without Lee and Houston is still not as good as the Mets.

Sure, Huff's had great second halfs in the past, but his first half this year was particularly bad and he's coming off an injury. I suppose they can't really lose with what they gave up, but I'd hesitate to say it gives them much of an edge over the Cardinals. The Mets are lucky - they play in the National League.

They're going to get the benefit of Huff's huge second half.

I think the Yanks are targetting Abreu or Burrell.

There's an epidemic of random negative votes today. I think the slow sports day has driven someone mad.

I'm assuming Aubrey Huff Plays the outfield as well, I know he's a 3b...if he doesn't play the outfield, where does he fit in?

He plays some OF and I think a little 1B too. Position-wise, he is very versitile.

I wonder where he fits in even with the outfield. Despite Ensberg's offensive struggles, his defense should keep him at third over Huff. Burke and Berkman fill two outfield spots, and they're not likely to get benched. That leaves Preston Wilson. Are they going to bench their big off-season acquisition now? For that matter, are they going to bench Lamb, who has been one of their best hitters this year? This move doesn't make sense to me.
