Born on January 24, 1958 in Carmel, California, Atlee Hammaker (Charlton Atlee Hammaker) played for the Kansas City Royals, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 12 year career. Hammaker broke into the bigs on August 13, 1981 with the Kansas City Royals, and put up a 4.11 ERA in 175 innings pitched in 1982, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Atlee Hammaker's best season was 1983, when he posted a 2.25 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 127 batters.
