Wings Take the Cup, Beat Pitt 3-2

I covered practically every game this season for Pittsburgh, both regular season and postseason and it was great. I enjoyed writing at AGM, managing my blog and interacting with fans of every team.

So when it came to writing the recap for the final game of the Penguins season; a season that had the hopes of the Stanley Cup and another championship banner, I opted for only one mode of expression to distinguish how I feel about the season.

I'll continue posting during the offseason - rumors, trades, signings, etc., so keep reading.

Up next - the NHL draft.

Followed by re-signings.

Thanks to everyone who read and commented during the run.

Great season for the Penguins and congratulations to the Red Wings who were fantastic in the Final. Great series, great season, great stuff Frank.

Kudos Frank, enjoyed reading all the articles. The Penguins time is coming, they will be back. Congrats to the Red Wings on a well deserved title. Even though Malkin scored last night, he still looked lazy and apathetic to me. And MAF looked human last night, unlike game 5. The Pens made it a game though and got close at the end. It was definitely exciting to watch.

Thanks a lot. Malkin was definitely a drag this series, a series where he otherwise could've been a huge deciding factor in the equation. Fact is, I could go on and scream about how a BS goal that slipped through Fleury secured the win, but the fact is it's a goal either way. Disappointing without a doubt, but a clear goal. I just thought it was fitting that it literally went in off his a$$.

The Pens played a great series. The Red Wings were just dominate, which kills me to say as an Avs fan. The Pens will be back in the same position for years to come, while the Red Wings are getting old. The only bad thing I can say about the Pens is not even about the team, it's about the fans. You are going to be disappointed when you lose the cup, but it was extremely disrespectful for the fans to boo during the presentation of the Conn Smythe and the Cup. The game is already over, the series is already over, the results aren't going to change just because people are booing, so why do it?

They were booing Bettman not the Wings. The fans stuck around and cheered for almost a half hour after the Pens left the ice.

Yeah they booed Bettman. They may have booed as the Cup rolled out but they weren't raining on Detroit's parade. Even Falcon, a known and respected Flyers fan, was quick to say he gained more respect for Pitt fans when they didn't boo Detroit's Cup party.

What a great game to watch...and that goal with less than 2 minutes left, followed up by Hossa's near miss was incredible...

That ending, in non-hockey terms, was comparable to a 2-minute drill by a team down by 7 in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. It had desperation written all over it and amazingly almost worked.

Great job as always, Frank. We may not agree on the teams we root for, but I enjoy chatting with you live during the series.
