Who wears short-shorts???

Kobe Bryant wears short-shorts. So does Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown.

Seriously? What the hell. It looked like a fashion show gone wrong!

If you happened to catch the Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers game last night on NBA TV, you would've wondered the same things that I wondered. Trust me. Is this what David Stern has to do to draw in NBA ratings? This is just ridiculous. I'm not the guy to complain about things, but why did this even occur?

Take a look at Kareem's face in the back!
Take a look at Kareem's face in the back!

First off, it's a fashion mistake. You can't have the authentic throwback shorts on, without the authentic throwback jerseys. It didn't even look right. Every "hip" person knows that. They all had baggy, loose shirts with skin tight shorts. I guess that the person in charge of wardrobe isn't that hip of a person. I mean, these uniforms didn't even bring that "old school feeling" back to the game. I understand that people want to get the NBA back to the way it used to be, but c'mon now. This wasn't the right move to make.

The commentators of the game were talking nonstop about the uniforms. I don't think that they're gay, because players like Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan used to have to where those shorts. I don't think that they're gay (I've had my doubts about Isiah). But the idea is gay. Not gay in a homosexual way. More like retarded, stupid, questionable. I always wished that I could've lived back in the old days so that I could see some of the great NBA players, but watching this game wasn't helping me. If I was a player on the Lakers, I would think that wearing those shorts was a cruel punishment. I would've accepted it if the Celtics were to wear the same thing, but they didn't.

It sort of looked like the video game, NBA Live, when you pick the All 90's Lakers team, and play against the modern day Celtics. NBA TV was showing the Lakers-Celtics rivalry games all day before the game tipped off. I guess they got a little too carried away with the attire. The momentum of the re-runs carried over into the game. But the funny thing is, the team wanted to wear these uniforms. Kobe Bryant was the first one sign off with the idea. The NBA contacted Tim Harris to tell him that they were going to rock the Hardwood Classic jersey, but that's not all. Harris wanted to bring the old to the new. He was inspired when he saw a picture of three guys from the 80's wearing the "short-shorts." He brought the idea up to L.A. and all of the players from the Lakers to signed it off, and wala! You've got yourself a new look, Harris.

You know who the worst player to look at in these shorts was? Lamar Odom! He looked like a little black, yoda (Star Wars reference).

Tony Allen must feel uncomfortable!
Tony Allen must feel uncomfortable!

Maybe this will do some good for the NBA. I mean, what lady doesn't want to see Kobe Bryant running up and down the floor with shorts up to his thighs. I know some of the female users here on AGM would love it. I aint gonna say no names. I'll leave the judging to you. I hope I don't have to see that ever again. Until every other NBA team in the league is forced to where them, it's unnecessary at the moment. Stern, you can find a different way to draw viewers by NOT allowing these short-shorts.

The Lakers must have thought that these shorts were affecting their play because they changed back into their regular shorts after halftime. They might as well had of played the rest of the game in those shorts, for comedic purposes. It was funny watching some of the players try to pull their shorts down, little by little.

Bryant wasn't thrilled about wearing the old-time shorts.

"I don't know what it feels like to wear a thong, but I imagine it feels something like what we had on in the first half," he said with a grin. "I felt violated. I felt naked. It's one thing to see films with guys wearing those things. ... I'd rather stay warm, man."

The regular shorts didn't help their game. They still lost the game, 11-91. Pierce scored 33, Garnett had 22 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, and Allen scored 19. Even Tony Allen got into the act, chipping in with 16 points while filling in for Rajon Rondo. He was showing people that he has no problem taking the starting role if he had to. Bryant scored 22 for Los Angeles, going just 6-of-25 from the floor. Lamar Odom had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

If the NBA ever decides to do this again, please make both teams rock the uniforms. It confuses me. I'm not complaining, I'm just beffudled. I hope David Stern won't allow this ever again.

Thanks P-Gunny. It's really not old, rather than it is kind of traditional. The baginess gets ridiculous at times. I sometimes see players pulling their shorts up while running down the court. Everytime a player does that, I think they should be fined

It was hard to watch, I think you took a lot of times picking on something that should just have heads shaken at it. I can't get over how hard it was to watch, I feel asleep before halftime because I couldn't take it. Hell, this isn't about the Pats so I'm all for it!

There is a reason that the shorts aren't short anymore... people realized how rediculous it looks... I understand if they want to try and bring the NBA back to its old ways, but don't make a mockery of the players... the whole thing is laughable, because its not the 80's anymore, this generation has a different style, and for the sake the players, lets just leave it be...

It looked stupid only having one team wear them. It was the Boston Gangstas against the Los Angeles Fairy Boys.

It reminded me of when I went to a Suns "turn back the clock" game a couple years ago (mmmm... 25 cent hot dogs!!!) and Stephon Marbury convinced his fellow Suns to yank their drawers up short-shorts style for the tip-off - I laughed my ass off!

However, you hit the nail on the head with calling it "gay" like you did. It's exactly what I thought. Homosexuals on the team were probably the most embarassed - Kwame Brown, for instance... we never did find out about the "person" who alleged sexual assault from him...

Remember when Kwame missed a playoff game against the Suns after getting held for questioning?

I will never forget that David Aldridge sideline report -"Kwame Brown was accused and held for questioning for sexual assault involving a cake. The victim is a person whose name is not released, but the person claims Brown sexually assaulted .... that person after an incident with a birthday cake. LA police is not releasing any more information about Kwame and that person."

It was like he went out of his way to say "I'M NOT SAYING WOMAN - CATCH THE CLUES, Y'ALL"

Good point Manny. As I watched the game, Kwame was the person with the least look of disspointment on his face. He looked very comfortable too.
