BigPPup
AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

Walker's Rants on a Federal Holiday

Let me start this off by giving a heartfelt Thank You to all the Veterans out there who have served and protected my rights as an American. Without their sacrifices an everyday Joe Blow like me could not sit here on his pedestal and rant about whatever he wants for the entire world to hear. So thank you all for your years of service.

Now, even though it may be a Federal Holiday, we still got to pay the bills here at Walker-Sports, and that means another edition of Walker’s Rants are coming your way.

Mike Singletary is good for the NFL, and he will be good for the San Francisco 49’ers. However, he has got to make better coaching decisions than giving the ball to Michael Robinson on a belly dive with time running out. That was inexcusable…

Greg Littlepage gave Al Groh a resounding endorsement this past week securing his job for the foreseeable future. Too bad Groh will lead Virginia to their second losing season in three years. Way to set the bar as low as possible at UVA…

The USA Eagles finally broke their near three year losing streak. Thank God for the opportunity to beat up on non rugby playing nations like Uruguay…

Has there been a season where Vince Carter has not been on the trading block?

Why is it that every season for the last four years, Duke Get the most amount of undeserved preseason basketball coverage…?

Some one should put Jimmy Johnson into the wall in the early laps on Sunday and put an end to his race for a third cup…

The fact that the BCS has a chance to decide who will win the Big 12 South is a complete farce…

The Florida Gators are playing the best football right now in the country. Alabama will have their hands full in the SEC Championship…

Big Ben will ruin the Steelers season if he does not find a way to get some rest before the home stretch…

Calzaghe is a hell of a fighter, but he should not go down as a legend. He had the benefit of hiding in Europe for the majority of his career…

If Frank Gore doesn’t fall on the two yard line, the headlines today read completely differently and Mike Singletary is considered a great coach for rallying his troops…

There’s a good chance that a 10 win team will miss out on the post season in the NFC this year, and that is just crazy…

It’s November and the weather is cold. That means the Recipe for Disaster is right around the corner. T-Shirts are for sale and available. Email us at Walker-Sports or meet us at the UVA vs. Clemson game, it will be a game you won’t forget…

Ok personally my opinion on the 49ers game is that a pass should have been attempted first... after that you can run the ball and you will still have time to spike the ball and then pick run or pass for the final play. the benefit for that is you get an extra play as long as you dont run a slow developing pass play or get sacked... so i think a run should have been called on the second play because if they did that they still could have ran the ball twice if they chose to do so but they would have also had an extra pass attempt

Agreed. This same idea applies to the Eagles and Steelers. Amazing that all three teams tried the same methodology. And they all lost.

I agree about the pass first. But I also have a problem with them taking 20 seconds to spike the ball, that made no sense at all. I understand wanting your team to be tough and hardnosed, but you gotta open the playbook up a bit more than that. The Eagles have lost two or three games this season because of their inability to be creative at the goaline, Westbrook is not a power back.

And what the hell's up with Reid? He was always a pass-pass-pass guy, with the occasional run tossed in. Now he gets run-happy at the goal line? Maybe the pass-pass-pass thing wasn't so bad.

Whatever happens with the Niners, they could do a lot worse than keeping Singletary as their coach. Even though it's been a bit bumpy, I'd like to see this play out. I hope they keep him on for at least another two years.

As for Ben Roethlisberger, you know that I agree with you. I'd rather sit his million-dollar keister and get him healthy than play with a 50-70 percent Ben. They're going to need him long term, and he's been pushed around a lot this season. Give him a couple games off...

That was the worst performance by a QB in the final minute I've seen. Way, way too much time came off the clock before the first spike at 20 seconds. All that would have mattered was the final score. The Cardinals blew San Fran out, had two TD's called back, and had a red zone interception. The Cards should have won by three scores. Singletary has the Niners playing different football than Nolan did, but the fact remains they're still a lousy team.

"Big Ben will ruin the Steelers season if he does not find a way to get some rest before the home stretch… "-The Steelers need to focus on some way of buying him some time.

The line is going to suck for the remainder of the season. The Steelers have proven they cannot fix that. However, what they can control is do they want a healthy Ben avoiding the sack in the first round of the playoffs, or do they want an injured Ben running around in the pocket.

It's all about max-protect and a rolling pocket. There are ways. I agree that he needs to find a way to get rested but my point is that it won't matter much when he plays healthy and just gets creamed anyway.

They are running close to max protection right now. That's why Heat Miller's numbers have been so down. But when you run a max protection set, and you have to limit the drops to 3 steps you basically put the offense into handcuffs, and everything will have to go through Hines Ward. They cannot go that conservative.
