AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

Walker's Rants Welcome to December

December is here, and that means Christmas will be here before you know. My apologies for being a little late with this week’s edition of Walker’s Rants, so in an effort to make up for lost time, let’s jump right into thing.

Of course Charlie Weis is coming back next season. Yes he is a horrible head coach, and yes his reign at Notre Dame has been a disaster. But no matter what the number, Notre Dame knows they cannot afford to buy him out, and they know they cannot handle the truth of another coaching search…

For as much as I hate the BCS, the way they broke the tie in the Big 12 South actually worked out. Yes, Texas got screwed, but with the three way tie that conference had, someone was going to get screwed no matter what. And don’t tell me there should have been a mini playoff…

I’m very excited for the Del La Hoya fight this weekend. I can’t wait to see the Golden Boy get whipped up on…

Al Groh is the worst Coach in a major conference. He and AD Grieg Littlepage should be fired…

The Jets are not the best team in the AFC, they never were, and we just like talking about Brett Favre…

I gotta start watching some NBA and college hoops. Just can’t get into the season with all this great football…

If you’re Mark Richt at Georgia, are you just waiting for your phone to ring to get you out of Athens? I mean you laid a pretty big goose egg out there this year…

It’s division 1 football…

Plaxico Burress… I could make 1,000 and 1 jokes right here, but all I’m going to say is DAMN…

Notre Dame Football will never return to prominence…

Willingham and Croom and Prince all out in the same season, it’s going to be a long and difficult time before we see a black coach hired at a Division 1 school again, and that is a shame…

I’d like to apologize to all our loyal readers for the lack of content on Walker-Sports over the past few days. Things have been a little crazy here with the Walker-Sports family as of late. But I promise to all of you, that we will not allow that to affect the quality or quantity of sports contents that you the loyal fans deserve. We can and will do better…

I may hate the BCS, but I love Bowl season. Too bad my Hoos will be at home watching all the games on TV…

I’m sick of people writing in to Walker-Sports and complaining about wanting a playoff system. There is no playoff, you’re not getting a playoff stop bitching about it and watch the BCS, and it’s all we got…

Lane Kiffin got the Tennessee job? Sorry Vol fans looks like you’re going to be living in futility for a few more years to come…

Looks like I was wrong about Tuberville going to Clemson. Gotta admit I was surprised by that hire…

At least the ACC still has basketball…

Sean Avery is a loudmouth, he is a pain in the ass, but his sloppy second comments are just funny…

Avery's comments were funny. He's a prick, but you gotta respect him for getting the girls that he gets, and getting them before others in the NHL.

Pretty much.

I'm glad he got suspended only because he's a huge tool and Elisha Cuthbert could do better

Me for example...

I'm also to see the De La Hoya fight. I hope he gets whipped, but I have a feeling Pacquiao moving up will just slow him down...not sure if I'll drop the $50+ to see it though...

Yeah, I gotta find someplace to watch the fight cause I dont wanna drop 50 bucks on it. But I have read though that Coke and Tecate beer and a couple other sponsors are offering rebates on the price of the fight that could drop it down to about 4 bucks

Word on the street is that some Notre Dame Alumni were willing to put up the money to buy out Weis' contract. It was just rumor at the Notre Dame - Syracuse game.

first year of doing very well followed by a few years of medicre at best resulting in firing. And willingham was fired after 3 years This is Weis's 4th

Agree with JT here. Firing Ty after 3 seasons sent a horrible message to the rest of the country. Sadly in an odd twist of fate, the one thing that is redeeming Notre Dame from the Willingham firing is that Ty sucked at Washington and has since been fired.

Firing Willingham was the right move. He is a terrible coach. The crime is not that Willingham got fired, it's that Weis still has a job.

I think that's the point cheez. Willingham was fired after having a similar record to what Weis has now. Did Willingham deserve to be canned? I believe so. But if you believe that (which you do), then Weis should be/should have been canned already (which you agree with). So unless it becomes evident that its all about Weis's contract, then this wreaks of a double-standard, even if that's not what ND is intending...

Yeah, I know.

I don't think it's double standards as much as it is pride. Do they want to admit that they're idiots twice in a row?

Proof is in the pudding. Either they're idiots for hiring Weis in the first place...or they have to fire him and admit that they were idiots twice in a row. Three times in a row if you count O'Leary.

I honestly believe that part of Notre Dame not firing Weis is their fear of having to go through another coaching search. First they know firing Weis opens the door of, why cant they get this right, 4 coaching searching in what 10 years? Thats not good. I also think they are afraid of facing the reality of the coaching market. Meaning Notre Dame is not a big time job, people are not frothing at the moth to go there and rebuild that program. If ND opens up a coaching search, dont expect the Urban Meyers to come running. They will get stuck with a second tier coach.

Urban Myer has no incentive to leave...He's at a big time program and guys like Les Miles, who didn't leave for Michigan, sure as hell won't go for ND though I could see Steve Spurrier thinking about it...

Exactly my point. Spurrier wont go to south Bend. He complained about DC. being too cold when he coached the Skins. But youre right the big name guys have too much going for them at their own schools even Leech at TT has too much going to leave and go to ND

And even if Leech thinks he's not getting enough from Tech (which I would agree with), he's got much more interesting options than Notre Dame. I think Leech could go to Auburn and make some noise. But I agree with BPP--I think Notre Dame is afraid because they have finally realized they aren't a prime destination anymore. They are a has-been, and they know it.

Leech at Auburn would be very interesting to see actually. Especially considering that he gets most of his defensive players from SEC territory as it is, I think he could make serious noise very quickly down there.
