BigPPup
AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

Walker's Post Super Bowl Rants

The Super Bowl far exceeded my expectations, I will admit that. It was a great game. I am not sure if it was the best that I have ever seen, but it was pretty damn close. And while this may not be the best thing on the net, I can guarantee that this edition of Walker's Rants will be the best thing you read on the internet all week.

So glad I bet the Cardinals +7 and despite the outcome of the game, I was able to walk away with a nice stash...

So Phelps gets caught with a bong and his sponsors back him. Charles Barkley gets caught with a DUI and he is banished from the face of the earth... how is that fair?

Let me get this straight, Andrew Bynum goes down for 8-12 weeks and all Kobe Bryant does in response is go off for 61 points on in the most historic arena in America. That boy is the truth...

Larry Fitzgerald is the truth...

The Cardinals should look to move Boldin and insure they get a solid replacement for him. It is beyond clear that Fitzgerald is the go to guy and they should build with that with a solid # 2...

It's true: Tiger Woods is a horrible tipper. I have a friend who worked at Augusta a few years back as a caddie. Custom is the golfer's tip the caddies when they come in for the Masters since the guys are out of work while the pros are there. Tiger never dropped a dime...

I am so sick of Manny Ramirez. I'd be fine if no one signs him and he retires forever...

What GSP did on Saturday night to B.J. Penn surprised the hell out of me...

If you thought the Super Bowl was lackluster in terms of the parties and the extra hoopla due to the economy. Just wait till you see how toned down this year's Daytona 500 will be…

As the midpoint of the NBA season approaches, it is obvious that many players are breaking down, as the number of injuries is rising. The All Star break will be a welcome rest for several top contenders...

Funny that UConn is emerging as the elite team in the country...

Apparently the global economic recession has not hit the EPL, $227.2 in mid season transfers alone...

What was your favorite Super Bowl commercial? I know what we liked here at Walker-Sports...

I cannot believe that Scott Johnson spent less than a year with USA Rugby and then jumped ship to the next best thing, sickening...

Call me a nerd, but I can't wait to watch some NFL Combine film and start writing my mock draft. I live for that stuff...

National signing day is tomorrow, and I can promise you that the Virginia Cavaliers will once again come home empty handed...

Ben Roethlisberger is a great QB. He does not do everything right, but the guy is flat out clutch...

When did Brenda Warner get hot?

I think you know why they're doing everything to protect Phelps; life isn't fair.

Kobe Bryant inadvertently wrecking his team's title chances and then scoring 61 the next game is amazing.....but they are still screwed because Gasol is a softy. I will say though, Gasol is a great passer.

Larry Fitz plays well, so Seattle must draft Crabtree.

And if Seattle doesn't get Crabtree, Boldin can come here. That solid #2 is already there and his name is Steve Breaston. They're pretty loaded at wideout so I think they need not worry about that.

Golf, meh.

Manny Ramirez won his rings, now he must be banished to some remote island in the Pacific Ocean.

It's not surprising that GSP knocked BJ Penn's ass out of the octagon. He's avenged his other losses and St. Pierre is just a downright badass. Penn is not ready for the big time and it showed, I'm not sure he landed a dent in GSP's body.

The Daytona what?

No Jameer Nelson, no Delonte West, no Andrew Bynum, Chris Paul is gimpy.....I conclude the Celtics will repeat as champions.

It's not funny when UConn has this huge guy named Thabeet blocking shots at will. North Carolina was grossly overrated and they'll fry when they get deep in the NCAA tournament. I will say though that UConn must be kicking themselves in that they got pounded by NIT material in Georgetown.

The recession hasn't hit the Yankees either but they keep buying! Plus teams like Chelsea and Man City are the richest clubs in the world.

Favorite Super Bowl commercial was where the worker suggested they stop buying Bud Light and he got thrown out of the 10 story high window. That is about it, maybe the Polamalu commercial. This year's batch of commercials was horrible, and the MacGyver parody was brutal.

Not much to comment on the rugby, other than the US owns Canada!

Since I'm dealing with a totally crap team, I'll be paying attention to the combine.

National signing day is the most overdone, over-hyped piece of work in collegiate sports today. I can also promise you that Al Groh will be out on the streets in December 09/January 2010.

He may not have the best numbers, but his scrambling ability and 3rd down accuracy is stunning. That play he made to Heath Miller while avoiding 4 Cardinals was amazing. He is a future HOF at this rate.

I can't figure the Brenda Warner thing out either, Jon Stewart called her a man-goblin or something like that. Maybe it's just a wig or she had to look good because she knew she would be on camera more often?

Oh come on. A) Barkley was arrested, Phelps was not B) This is Phelps first controversy, this only adds to Sir Charles's resume C) Phelps isn't controversial at all, Barkley has politics (divisive, if nothing else), the spitting thing, the auburn issues, his role-model issue etc. He may or may not be right with any of those...but sponsors don't like to toss dollars at those guys...

I like Sir Charles, he's a former sixer, an entertaining guy and he and I are probably fairly close on the political spectrum, but to say that he and phelps are someone on the same plain is a little ridiculous.

Phelps was arrested for a DUI in 2004 after the Olympics if I'm not mistaken.

Now he's caught hitting the bong after the 2008 Olympics.

In 2012 he'll ramp it up a bit and accidentally shoot himself with Plaxico Burress' gun.

But there is some PD in South Carolina trying to build charges to arrest Phelps, isn't there?

And even though Phelps had his own DUI, DUI is much worse than taking a hit from a bong.

Yeah some cop is looking to arrest Phelps for the pic, that I will admit is a bit ludicrous. But I was referring to the sponsorships and all of that and even the media reaction between the two.

BackRant...
  • Nice stash of what?
  • It's not...
  • Kobe makes up for the any player's loss of production...
  • If only Fitzgerald played defense too...
  • Breston as a solid number two maybe?
  • With all that money he has? Love the dude but that is a very dick move...
  • I wish someone would sign him or he will NEVER shut up...
  • huh?
  • Who watches the Daytona 500?
  • Because guys keep getting bigger and bigger, the NBA is becoming more physical and more dangerous...
  • UConn...
  • Again, huh?
  • Commercials for the Super Bowl haven't been as expected over the last few years...
  • What is the next best thing?
  • MLB Fantasy Baseball Draft is more my thing...
  • National singing day is a sham...
  • Big Ben is clutch as hell. Who else in the NFL would you want leading a game winning drive right now?
  • Who?

It seems to be in vogue to comment on each of your rants there dear Walker so here are mine......
  • Good on you for winning!
  • I think we may have an inkling on the "fairness" of this issue.
  • I have to take your word on anything NBA related
  • Larry Fitzgerald is indeed THE TRTUTH
  • It seems to me that the Cardinals have a nice stable of recievers, seeing who will the QB next season will be the interesting question.
  • I don't watch golf
  • I don't watch baseball
  • GSP?
  • NASCAR is feeling the economic pinch as I believe is all of racing. Honda has even dropped its F1 team. Hopefully all the racing codes can survive this downturn.
  • See NBA comment above
  • I don't really watch college basketball
  • FINALLY Arshavin has signed terms to join Arsenal! My mouth is watering over the midfield of Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas, Andrei Arshavin and Theo Walcott. (Once they all get healthy)
  • I don't like commercials
  • I share your sentiments with the Johnson move. USA Rugby is growing but an experienced hand for the National Team is vital.
  • You're a nerd
  • I think this National Signing Day business is a bit ridiculous.
  • Big Ben saved the Steelers in crunch time in the NFL's biggest game.
  • She's always been a babe.

@ Gunny, I agree. Arshavin can enjoy his 5th place finish and UEFA Europa League spot.

That Polamalu commercial is crap. They took the greatest sports commercial of all time and bastardized it.

I think you all know my favorite commercial. Give Daddy a kiss.

My opinion on college athletics is well documented. This signing day hype just serves to feed the monster.

Brenda Warner took a look at the women on the sideline and decided she had to step up her game.

Phelps is in his early 20's and can still bring 'em in. Barkley is old news and does not have the commercial appeal he once had. Barkley is much more expendable.
