Trizz Saves The NFL

I know, I know, if it ain't broke, don't fack with it but the NFL seems to have these meetings every year and tries to make the game better by haircuts and imbecilic rule changes. So why can't I propose some rules of my own? (Feel free to add any)

1. Pro Bowl- The Pro Bowl invitation has become the Gold Glove of the NFL: the player is honored, but unless you're a first timer or Peyton Manning, chances are you don't want to play. After a long, hard, backbreaking season, the first thing you want to do is fly to Hawaii, put on some pads and go at it again--for fun? But watching AP last year should've struck an idea... why not let only rookies and 1st and 2nd year players in. They would actually play with heart and it may salvage the game.

2. Draft Lottery- Worse gets first. It's just not fair. I understand we can't have 8-8 teams grabbing first rounders year after year, but if you make it like the NBA lottery, the worst team gets better odds I'm tired of the Raiders getting top picks year after year and blowing it.

3. Suspended for Life- There's a disparity in suspensions: Chris Henry is getting chance after chance while Pacman Jones is on the outside looking in. I like that Roger Goodell is ruling with an iron fist, but if you are going to ban one, ban all.

4. No More Icing the Kicker- It's becoming an annoying trend and it barely works or it completely backfires.

5. Stop Being a B*tch, kick and play defense- The "Devin Hester" rule got shot down, but I think they should reconsider. Intentionally kicking away from Hester is about as b*tchmade as taking knees in the 1st and 3rd quarter.

6. Radio for LB- The Linebacker is the Quarterback of the defense he should be able to get signals just like the QB.

In regards to the Pro Bowl... this is definitely in the minority and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but: Give each team a bye week on week 7 (with their other, normal bye week) and have a mid-season Pro Bowl. Yes, people could get injured but get this: it would be a flag football game and whoever won the Super Bowl the previous year would host it (For better or worse... Pro Bowl in the snow anyone?) Just good clean fun with the best players of the first half of the year... kind of like the other sports but it would be more momentous because of the week leading up to it. I'm sure there are many reasons this wouldn't work but I've thought this since I was like 10 and needed to get it out. And yes, I feel better.

How about a flag football game with the players wives, girlfriends, etc? Better yet, they could dress in bikinis and play water polo. Hmmmmm.

All joking aside, I like both ProBowl ideas.

1. 1st and 2nd year players only. People with something to prove.
2. Flag Football. Keeps the injuries down. I'm not sure about having it midseason though.

That would teach those ungrateful about the playing in the game and all would be required to take part, or be suspended for the first game of the season

the draft lottery has still lead to massive tanking in the NBA and the big difference between the NBA and the NFL is ability to project talent. Most years you know who the clear number one is, you get the number one pick you land duncan, lebron etc. However in the NFL most years its as much of a blessing as a curse. Jamarcus Russell will he be a star? how are alex smith and david carr doing? My point is there's really no need for a draft lottery in the NFL. Also, Chris Henry was already suspended for quite a while, he just was on good behavior while he was out. Pacman was suspended and went to strip clubs anyway. We'll see what happens to Henry now after this, i would imagine he'll be suspended again.

I'm also a subscriber to Ernie Adams (Bill Belichick's right hand man) theory that punting on 4th down should just be banned... unless your really pinned in your own territory. Who's with me?

It's way to situational. Score, weather, distance, ball spot, pace of game, and momentum

Okay... maybe I shouldn't have said banned -- too harsh a word? But if your in your opponents side of the field I think it's more beneficial to go for it on fourth down (obviously not on like... say... 4th and 13 -- but more on like a 4th and 7 or less). Sorry, that's just how I feel.

For the millionth time, the NFL as allowed 2 players on each team to have a radio in their helmet, but only one can be in at a time

How about getting rid of the radio? Players might be bigger and faster, but they're also dumber, can't even call their own plays.

They should just do away with the pro bowl. Just make an announcement as to who's on the team and be done with it. Totally agree with points 4 and 5 - I totally hate icing the kicker - be a man and let the chips fall where they may.

I Also agree with Iceing the kicker, they need to get rid of that. As for the Draft, it should be like the NBA so an 8-8 team can get a 1st pick. One more rule you can add is to give each team a position in overtime, rather than having it depend on a coin flip.

Get rid of kneeling on the ball. It's kinda sissified.
