Too Bad

The New York Mets lost a though game against the New York Yankees, 9-8. Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriguez, hit a high pop up fly ball; Rodriguez was already
thinking about heading towards the dugout, but than Mets second baseman, Luis Castillo, dropped Rodriguez's pop up and the Yankees walked away with the victory.

“We’ll have to fight through this,” Mets manager Jerry Manuel said. “This is definitely a tremendous test for us.”

It's hard for Met fans to digest. Just thinking about what could have happened if Los Angeles Dodgers second basemen, Orlando Hudson, would have been playing for the Mets.

"I feel bad. I feel so bad,” Castillo said, about his committed error. “The ball was moving a little bit.”

Castillo finished the game going hitless, but managed to score a run. Mets outfielder, Carlos Beltran, scored two runs and had one hit with one RBI. He happened to get walked three times.

Left fielder, Gary Sheffield, had two runs and two hits. Short stop, Alex Cora, had one run with two walks. Third baseman, David Wright and right fielder Ryan Church, both scored one run each.

Mets starting pitcher, Livan Hernandez, pitched five innings and allowed six earned runs with seven hits. He finished with only one strike out.

Rodriguez couldn't believe his eye's. “I still don’t believe it,” Rodriguez said, (A-Rod's only one hit). “I couldn’t believe what I saw. I’ve never seen that before.”

Was A-Rod relieved that he wasn't going to get "killed" by the media for the pop up or because the Yankees got away with a close victory?

Yankees short stop, Derek Jeter and second baseman Robinson Cano, finished with two runs and two hits (including one home run) each. Jeter feels lucky and believes the Yankees got away with a steal. “Of course, we feel like we just stole one,” Jeter said. “We were lucky. That’s just the bottom line.”

First baseman, Mark Texeira, had two runs with one hit and only had one home run. Yankees starting pitcher, Joba Chamberlain, finished with two earned runs and five walks. He pitched four innings with three strike outs and only allowed one hit.

A-Rod actually had a big clutch hit in Thursday night's game against the Red Sox. But the Yankee bullpen's ineptitude overshadowed it.
