After a three year hiatus, the Miami Dolphins are eager to usher in a new mustache era. This time, it’s one attached to Cowboys assistant Head Coach Tony Sparano.
The New Haven Register, Sparano’s home town newspaper, is reporting that he has been offered the job and will accept it at the conclusion of the Cowboys season.
A Dolphins spokesman denied the reports through the Associated Press, most likely because the Dolphins have yet to interview a minority candidate, a requirement known as the Rooney Rule.
The Dolphins will satisfy that requirement on Monday, when VP Bill Parcells is expected to fake-interview Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.
While the report has not been confirmed by any major sources, many believe it’s simply a formality, as Parcells has made it no secret that Sparano was his first choice.
