The Tomahawk Times - Reyes shines, but Braves fall to Brewers 1-0

MILWAUKEE -- The one run losses continue to haunt the Atlanta Braves. For the second game in a row, the Milwaukee Brewers came up with a late rally to pull out the victory. Rickie Weeks tripled in J.J. Hardy in the eighth inning to give the Brew Crew a 1-0 win over the Braves.

A classic pitcher's duel took place over the first seven innings, with Jo-Jo Reyes matching scoreless innings with Milwaukee starter Jeff Suppan (3-4). In the end, Suppan's eight scoreless innings would prove to be enough to give his team the edge.

The Brewers got their one run of the night in the eighth against Braves reliever Blaine Boyer. After Reyes issued a lead-off walk to Hardy, Weeks tripled with two-outs to give the Brewers a 1-0 advantage that would hold up for the win. 

Reyes (2-3) deserved a better fate, but still gave Atlanta the best start of his young career. The Braves lefty set a career-high with nine strikeouts over seven shut-out innings and set down 14 Brewers before the walk to Hardy.

Atlanta left eight men on base against Suppan, who walked five Braves on the night. Center fielder Mark Kotsay was out of the line-up again for Atlanta, missing his third straight start with lingering back soreness.

On Deck: The Braves and Brewers will close out their series on Thursday in an afternoon contest. Jorge Campillo will get his third starting assignment of the season for Atlanta, while the Brewers counter with Seth McClung. Game time is set for 1:05 PM EST.
