The Nature of Free Agency...

So, Free Agency, huh?
Lot of stuff going on. Lets see what's happened so far:
- The Raiders are dumb. Someone let Jason and I take over this team.
- The Jets confuse me.
They got rid of Dwayne Robertson, who is a very good player who is not a good fit in the 3-4 defense. They bring in Kris Jenkins, who is a former pro-bowler, who played in a 4-3 defense and his job was to penetrate. While Jason will point out that he has the body to make the change, I'd say that you are going to give up a 3rd and a 5th for an injury prone guy who has never done what you are asking him to do. That's quite a gamble in my book.
Then, They only get a future fourth rounder for Vilma? If you are going to tell me that it's conditional, I know, but with Vilma's knee a question mark, how sure are you that he'll meet any of the conditions? You can't be.
The one thing that Jason is right about is that if they don't get a fourth rounder for Dwayne, then they might be in a lot of trouble.
- As far as the Saints, look for the offense to be much improved if JV can stay healthy.
- Asante Samuel is an eagle. I guess we'll find out just how good he is now that he is going to have to cover Plaxico Burress, and Terrell Owens twice a year.
- The Giants losses are not as bad as everyone thinks. Jason is right about Gibril, as all the talk about him as led him to be a bit overrated. However, He was a vital cog in that secondary and will definitely be missed. Jason's point about Michael Huff is dead wrong, because he'll just stay in the spot he's in and play center field while Gibril plays the run.
Losing Kawika Mitchell isn't that big of a deal. It will be if Michael Strahan retires and Mathias Kiwanuka is forced to move back to end. This makes Dan Connor a mortal lock to be a Giant at the end of round one.
Reggie Torbor to the Dolphins is a bit curious, because who knows where he fits in a 3-4? I don't.
- According to Rotoworld, The Giants appear to be on the trail of former Steeler Clark Haggans.
Haggans has played in a 3-4, excelling in getting pressure on the quarterback. In Steve Spagnuolo's scheme it could definitely work. If they make this signing, I would take it as a sign that the Giants are looking to move Kiwanuka back to end, and that Strahan might be on his way out the door.
