I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

The Long Weeked Was Good, But Walker's Rants is Much Better

The long weekend is over. Hope everyone survived the holiday festivities, and has returned safely. Surprisingly enough the long weekend actually provided some great moments on the athletic field, not something I typically expect from 4 th of July weekend. However, as good as it was, there’s still no better way to end the weekend than reading Walker’s Rants.

That was an amazing Wimbledon final, probably the best tennis match I’ve ever seen…

Yanks and Sox actually made for good television this weekend, but it is no longer the best rivalry in sports…

I’m sick of Toyota’s I’ll be happy when Chevy is allowed to change their engine for next season…

Gilbert got a big contract and the Zards got their man, but they won’t make the second round next year…

Why is the entire A.L. All-Start team all Bo-Sox?

A-Rod is with Madonna and I could care less…

Tyson Gay is having about as unlucky of an Olympic buildup as you can possibly have…

Dara Torres now that’s an amazing achievement at 41 years old…

Elton Brand will not be a Clipper next year…

When did the Tour de France start?

Can’t say I’m too excited about the upcoming All-Star game…

The Rays are for real, even if they go .500 the rest of the way, they will still win 90 plus games…

U.S.A. is struggling badly right now and Stevenson better change the culture very soon…

Someone will over pay for Josh Smith, but that does not mean that I do not like him…

Yankees/Red Sox will always be the best rivalry. All you have to do is experience it live just once to know, you'll never see something like that again.

For Dara Torres to set a US Record in the 50mm free, at 41, after not swimming competetively for eight years, AND after having a kid, is freaking amazing. If she picks up gold in Beijing, it should be story of the year, hands down.

Thankyou for not mentioning the UFC match. The fact the decision is drawing more debate than the fight itself should be enough of an indication to the viability of the ~~sport~~ entertainment.

Is it anything to do with the new suits? Apparently, the world of swimming is in uproar, because new Speedo suits are really technologically advanced in whatever it is they are trying to do, and the suits are helping the swimmers to swim faster. Recently, huge chunks have been carved out of world records in most swimming events. There is a problem though, in that most national organisations have signed multi million pound deals to swim for certain makes at the Olympics, but this new Speedo suit is clearly fastest. Was the ageing swimmer wearing one of these new suits?

UFC will see the same demise that boxing did, and Saturday's match was just an indication that it is possible. And honestly Dana White is not too far removed from Don King.

Agreed what Dara is doing is beyond amazing and probably what I am looking forward to seeing the most in the Olympics and maybe Tyson Gay in the 100m if he's healthy.

But you are right Alex and JT, the new suits are suspossed to be a huge help. I was reading about them back in the spring, because a couple countries were angry because their product deals did not allow them to wear the new suits and they saw it as a complete disadvantage.

I'm going to disregard the Yankees because they don't fit in my argument.

I think it's because of the high college per capita numbers for the Boston area.
Who has the most time to surf the net? College Students.
Where are there more colleges than anywhere else in the US? Boston.
Therefore the internet caters to Boston fans. :-))
