The Best Quarterback Ever Tournament

That is right...after constructing "The Best Runningback Ever Tournament", I decided to do it with the quaterback position. Now people might complain about who is in and who isn't or complain about the seeding. I don't care if you complain, as long as you vote! This is my goal (a very farfetched goal.) I want to find the best player ever at each position and then after I have all positions I want to do a best football player ever tournament. So without further wait, here is the fabulous field of 24 quarterbacks. Look at the matchups that are below the seedings and vote on thos ematchups! Thanks for participating!

(Stats by players names are TD/Yards/QB Rating)

1. Dan Marino 420 | 61,361 | 86.4

I don't think this guy is old enough to have a real grasp of Quarterbacks and their on field performance like before 1993 so we can cut him a little slack

Don't take it personal, Agent0, it's a great idea and a good list. We're just throwing out names we remember, doesn't mean they should be on it. (Well, they do, but again, it's your list)

Randall Cunningham shouldn't be on it, by the way.

John Brodie should.

It always impresses me how unimpressive Nammath's numbers are. Also you go with Bledsoe and Baugh but don't go with Kenny Anderson or Kenny Stabler or Doug Williams or Randell Cunningham, I find that interesting.

wow...I totally forgot about Stabler, I feel bad about that, but Cunningham I did leave out...Anyways I don't think those lower seeds realyl matter that much, I mean we know top 10-12 seeds are only ones in contention...(I like adding lower seeds for controversy and so that people can ridicule me)

They don't matter if your going to just exclude them, why don't you create an upset, since it's your bracket, then you would really have something going. What the hell is the point of creating a seeded list, if the top 8 are shoe-ins for the elite 8?

the next vote has a mannign vs brady ( I thought that would be good.) the voting for 9 v 24, 10 v 23, 11 v 22, etc etc will give us a very good bracket of 16 seeds where there could be upsets...in the best runningback one my 3 seed Jim Brown won the whole thing.

If Brady does anything close to what he did this year again...(i.e. consistently put up great numbers) then he'll easily pass manning...

Until then, Brady as rings and Manning has Numbers...

Its like when Terry Bradshaw and Dan Marino enter Thunderdome...

Not to mention she was a douche bag. My dad went to a game at Foxboro Stadium a couple years before it closed and he said when he was driving to the stadium, like a few hours before the game, he saw her drive by him in the breakdown lane in a freakin little Mazda or something going about 90. Speed was never the problem for Terri.

I understand you are youthful, so please don't take these criticisms too harshly. This is an interesting idea and I look forward to more articles.

However, I do feel the need to say that in 1978, the NFL changed the rules with regards to pass interference. They made it much more difficult to defend the pass and there was an almost immediate response in quarterback statistical performance.

Heck, go way back and consider Sammy Baugh, he played in an era when there was no pass interference penalty at all. It was extremely difficult to have a passing game in that era.

As I said earlier, this is an interesting idea, but unless you consider the QB statistics normalized on a per play basis against the background of a changing rules structure, your winner will be nothing more than a popularity contest.

By the way, I consider Otto Graham to be the best ever. But that's just my opinion and it is skewed based on his AAFC performance.

Based on my comments above, I'm sure you can see that I don't agree with your seedings at all because they are skewed heavily towards the modern game. However, as for your first four: Fouts, Starr, Kelly, Bledsoe

I agree 100%, the top fantasy year in the 70s was Steve Grogan with 3286 PYD 28 TD 20 INT and that was in 1979 after it was enforced, Marino added 1800 yards and nearly doubled the touchdowns in 84 the next decade. I'm only a little older than Agent0 and include Jurgensen, Graham, Luckman, Layne, Van Brocklin, Tittle and Dawson on my top 24 so it's a matter of perspective rather than age I think.
