The $1 Horse Racing Bet That Turned Into $1.97 million

I have an uncle that once told me on a car ride that you will win just as much money throwing it off a bridge as you will betting on horse races. This might have resonated more if I had not been on my way to drop him off at the OTB. Perhaps though my uncle felt this way because he had never placed an accumulator bet in northern England.

A man in northern England on Saturday placed a $1 accumulator wager on eight horse races at total odds of 2,000,000-1 at William Hill's shop in the town of Thrisk. He ended up winning all eight races and won a total of $1.97 million. The winners were priced at 8-1, 10-1, 15-2, 11-2 (2 times), 4-1, 7-2, and 5-2. The best part of this story is that the guy did not even know that he had won until Sunday morning when he called to place another accumulator bet. Nice way to get your day underway huh?

I cannot help but think with this dreary day in the northeast if maybe I should go place some bets myself at the OTB. Don't worry I do not live in New York City so even if I decide not to go today I can go for many years to come, maybe with my uncle.

Nice....just a tip since I know you're a newbie:

Some AGM users get testy when 3 articles by the same user get posted within 10 minutes.:)

But all in all, good stuff.
