The "One Man Crime Wave" must be taught a lesson

It saddens me that once again that I have to write on the unfortunate decisions of an athlete who has clearly chosen to throw a promising NFL career away for the allure of street crime and furthermore, street cred.  This athlete as we all know is now former Bengals WR Chris Henry.  Chris Henry has once again defied reason and logic by his arrest for punching an 18 year old in the face and breaking his glass window with a bottle of beer.  This is the fifth, count them FIFTH time that Chris Henry has been arrested since December of 2005. His previous arrests involve guns, drugs and alcohol.  And apparently the Bengals and FINALLY had enough, that is why he is now a FORMER Bengals WR.  This guy has been given opportunity after opportunity to get himself together, his life together and his career together.  There's no doubt he was given counseling, received support and prayers from others.  There's no doubt that Marvin Lewis, {to his own detriment} stuck by him when many coaches would have cut and released him the first or second time.  In fact, it speaks to the logic of the Bengals franchise why he was given so many chances in the first place.

This time, he dosen't have their support or backing.  He is on his own.  His own agent had no choice but to thank the Bengals for their patience. {That isn't even the word!}

His friend, Whitney Jackson who was also arrested on charges of menacing said in a quote: "I wish that somebody could see that it is not fair that Chris Henry is cut out of football,".    Once again, logic is defied.   It would be amazing to me if he finds his way into an NFL uniform, and yet I definitely think it will happen.

There's no other choice but for the justice system to examine the case thoroughly and to do what is necessary to Chris Henry.  It's not even Strike 3 anymore...

More like Strike 5.

Some people just can't be helped. He was given many opportunities to find the proper path and he refused. Cut him loose.

It's just unbelieveable the lack of responsibility and care some athletes have for the position they are in. Obviously, this guy had some bad influences in his life prior and during his career that he didn't cut loose. Some athletes and famous people just don't get sometimes that when you make it, there are some people in your inner circle that only serve to bring them down and that you have to cut loose immediately before they do so. But I think in this case, Chris Henry was his own worst enemy. He chose to engage in this lifestyle despite his success. Although he may have left the hood, the hood never left him.

What's amazing to me is that Chad Johnson spoke on his behalf. the same Chad Johnson that wanted to leave Cincy according to his interview on SportsCenter.

It's amazing he can get arrested 5 times and he gets away with only an 8 game suspension.

The dude should be permanently banned from playing in the NFL or the CFL, he is a problem that should've been rid of a long time ago, but the Bengals organization is a mess, and Marvin Lewis has no control over his players. None.

Chris Henry, goodbye, you had your chance, and you failed.

In no other franchise would he have been given this many chances.....oh yeah the Knicks would give him 5 chances, perhaps even 10.

Isiah should resign if he has any dignity left.

Dignity? Isiah Thomas? The same Thomas that told a star player to stay home? Not only should he resign, he should never be allowed on an NBA sideline again in his lifetime.

I've just seen that James Harrison had his charges dropped. Now I KNOW what will happen with Chris Henry. A criminal justice system without justice is just criminal.

Chris Henry has only gotten this far because Marvin Lewis is a class act. For Henry to make such bad decisions after his coach had supported him is just wrong. And Chad Johnson should just shut up and mind his own business. Lewis has been real good to him as well. Cincy was smart to hire Lewis. I hope they keep him on for a good long while. And Lewis has better things to do with his time than be zookeeper for a bunch of malcontents. He treats you like a man, act like one.
